Bats in Churches Workshop

Bat detail

Presentations and other useful resources from the Bats in Churches National Stakeholder Workshop held on 13th May 2016 can now be downloaded from the Bats and Churches website.

The aim was to bring together all the main stakeholders, namely Natural England, Historic England, The Church of England, the Bat Conservation Trust and the Churches Conservation Trust, and begin to see a way forward that considers the needs of church congregations as well as bats.

The specific aims were to:

  • Inform the church, bat and heritage sectors about the new developments in the understanding of the  management of bats in churches and the tools being developed to help with this issue
  • Explain the status of the stakeholders’ application to the Heritage Lottery Fund
  • Provide an opportunity for consultation with and between the main stakeholders

You can download videos of the presentations and read a summary of the facilitated table sessions. There are also links to further useful resources. The website also provides an update on the most recent research carried out as part of the 2015 Management of Bats and Churches pilot.
